I found study after study of what is called "A baby High" between parents and their newborn baby. I thought for sure mothers instinctively had this but I was surprised about the number of fathers who found this chemical rush of happiness when holding their new babies. If you think about it, it is one of the sweetest studies you could read about. I even found a study linking the babies smell to the parents pleasure centers in the brain. I tried this out with my own kids (who are not babies but sometimes stinky post toddler years) I tried a few times smelling their little heads and without fail every time I found a rush of joy and love straight to my heart. So long story short if you need a pick me up, pick up a friends newborn baby. Not only will this benefit you emotionally but the new mother will most likely thank you so she can get a load of laundry done.
